Benn fails drug test

Scratch a little deeper and you can see having two separate bodies testing for PEDs is a canny way of generating escape routes should a fighter come back positive. Especially when boxers micro-dose and the half-life is short. In that case, and assuming both bodies don't turn up on the same day, there's a very good chance if one testing agency reveals a positive, the other (having tested a few days before or after) will throw up a negative result, generating the kind of confusion which helps cloud the matter.

Remember with Whyte, Hearn used VADA as his line of defence but this time the roles are reversed and it's UKAD he's talking up because he's always gonna give credence to the agency which returns the negative result. That's why Matchroom pay for VADA because, combined with UKAD, there are two rolls of the dice and micro-dosing almost eliminates the chance of both bodies returning a positive test...

He said there is an unnamed boxer who has failed a test with the WBC clean boxing program, but there is a big battle trying to keep it hidden.

He made some vague, cryptic social media comment, but other than that has been strangely silent for a man who is usually so vocal and self righteous about drug cheats. If he was consistent he'd be calling for Conor Benn and Eddie Hearn to be thrown in jail.

I agree there is merit to that theory, and playing devils advocate Hearn could just be using VADA as an early warning system for UKAD and the fighter to pack it in, or sort their timing out.

 

I think this is more than likely and deffo seems like be the case at least in this instance.

They are going through the most plausible excuses with lawyers and an expert as we speak.

Once they find the correct answer we will hear more from Eddie and the "wait till you have all the info" mob
