Bernard Hopkins or Manny Pacquaio? Who do you think is better all around fighter?

Just the fact that Pac doesn't blatantly use head butts and holds and part of his boxing style should tell you. I hated Hatton for the holding ****, and I hate Ward now for it. I'm not saying they are bad boxers; but why should you start dirty from round 1 before even trying to figure out the opponent?

 

By your logic than Roberto Duren and Sandy Saddler also suck.

 

Not saying they suck, it's just a BS style of fighting. They obviously have the skills to do some work, without holding and hitting out of clinches and **** like that. They do it anyway, either to frustrate the opponent (or the audience). Ref's shouldn't even let fighters do **** like that, and sometimes when they fight out of their country, we see them get told to fight, or **** off.

Hopkins wins easily. i mean he's 46. he didn't always fight conservatively.

 

Pac without a doubt. Hopkins is great, there's no denying his achievements and he knows how to win fights (by any means necessary.) But Pac is the better overall athlete and he's on a roll of dominance that Hopkins has never had.

 

Pac is more physically talented...but Bernard's intelligence, defense, and dirty tactics make him a better fighter. Prime Bernard has very small weaknesses. Pac has more glaring ones.

obviously he was never as famous or well documented as pac but in boxing terms hopkins was extremely dominant

Who was the more all-round effective fighter.

This is a very difficult question indeed.

The best Hopkins I ever saw was against Glen Johnson in 1997, in the second Antwun Echols fight in 2000, and in the Felix Trinidad fight in 2001.

The best Pacquiao I ever saw was against Oscar De La Hoya in 2008, Ricky Hatton in 2009, Miguel Cotto in 2009, and Antonio Margarito in 2010.


Ultimately, after much thought and consideration, I have to go with Pacquiao, for several reasons.

Although Hopkins was more versatile, more cerebral and technically better, even at his awesome best I don't think he was quite as incisive, quite as dynamic, quite as potent and quite as fearsome as the best Manny Pacquiao.

But there's not much in it. I wouldn't argue too much with someone who saw it the other way around. Two very special fighters indeed.

Who did he fight in those 10 years? The class of opponents that Pac has been dominating is far, far greater.
