It's a triple effect question... Apart from the B-hop "white boy" comment, Rashad caused a stink when he called black UFC Champ Jon Jones a "white boy" recently. Also, is the hispanic white haired Victor Ortiz classed as a white boy?
B-Hop appreciates MMA now. It was he who strongly advised Toney against going into the Octagon IIRC. What he's telling Rashad there about just throwing the right hand with accuracy rather than going for power, is even more apt with 4oz 'MMA gloves'. As it goes, Rashad throws a pretty decent right hand :yep [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpRMuxo1zoo[/ame]
Yea I thought that when I was watching it...... its not that MMA fighters have to be conscious of the leg being swept but rather have to be comfortable with the weaker lead leg. They could easily just follow his advice as a southpaw.
Love listening to the guy. Nard loves sound of his own voice but hey i ain't complaining!. He's been taught by great scholar's of the sport and his knowledge is invaluable. As for what he said about leading off first. That's hard for most MMA fighters as there weary of letting hands go and getting countered. Tbh i don't think Rashad had a clue what Nard was going on about tbh. He didn't really seem to understand why you come off at an angle after a attack. Thanks for posting btw :good.
It depends what you mean by best, really. Fedor, at his best, was a very effective MMA striker because of his awkwardness and ability to unleash pure Hell on his opponents. He suffered a lot of hand injuries due to 'improper' punching technique, but with 4oz gloves I guess it's whatever works for you. And he sparked some opponents brutally at his best, and even past his best with a highlight reel K.O over Brett Rogers. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMHdIHomtyk[/ame] Anderson Silva, again, very unorthodox attack, with kicks, punches, odd combinations as well as good defence. However, he looked abysmal as a boxer, for MMA his striking works very well. His kicks and knees are legendary, and he is arguably the most dynamic striker in the history of the sport. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkZkgcwn42I[/ame] Jose Aldo, brutal Muay Thai knees/leg kicks, his punching combinations are very 'boxer like' though. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpKfUviYSjU[/ame] Alistair Overeem: K-1 (kickboxing) Grand Prix winner. Obviously a very accomplished striker, but his stand up didn't look all that recently against Fabricio Werdum, when he was wary of the takedown. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj9Y2vH9_0o[/ame] Junio Dos Santos has pretty polished boxing and serious power. He smashed Werdum a few years back with a brutal uppercut in the first round. At 1:04. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsWxOqEbIJE[/ame] Obviously you can provide the usual kickboxing types like Cro Cop, but you also have unorthodox types like Lyoto Machida, who uses an elusive 'Karate' style. Let's not forget, when MMA strikers get ahead of themselves :deal [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUx9OE7DZAo[/ame]
Teaching those gimps is a lost cause. Hopefully he'll become a trainer one day and teach young kids coming up because I think a lot of the art is being lost.
You know, if boxing is finished in 25 years, part of the blame has to go on the older fans in the classic forum and in general. You know the fellas who refuse to watch modern boxing and are stuck in the past as regards to the following the sport. Moaning and groaning about how the sport isnt what it used to be, and all that. They are virtually turing their back on the sport and being part of the problem of why boxign is dying. They dont exactly encourage new fans to go out and follow the modern game certainly:thumbsup By best I meant most skillful, because a knockout can easily happen to anyone is mma, so I wasnt just talking about power. But thanks, ill have a look at a few of these videos, ive heard of all these lads before anyways.
as someone who boxes and spends fasr too much time thinking asbout boxing there is some great stuff in there. would love to watch Bernard talk about his fav tips and hints. could add loads to any fighters armoury!
