I'm happy for Hopkins winning but not happy for myself, i went to the TAB yesterday to put money down on a Hopkins win but it wasn't on the computer for some strange reason. I left it there instead of asking the worker behind the counter whats going on. I could be rich today :patsch
Pavlik is a good fighter but seriously overrated around here, he beat Miranda and Taylor, not the smartest boxers around. He'd never seen anyone like Hopkins, i knew hopkins was never gonna get hit by many punches because of his defence and smarts and land sneaky shots. He won more comprehensively than i expected though, his workrate was great and we actually saw him be the aggressor at times during the fight. Hopkins pre-fight talk was respectful and giving credit while Pavlik was talking about being the first person to stop Hopkins. Hopkins wanted Pavlik to underestimate him and Pavlik fell for it, i knew the fight was sealed before the bell went.

Let's not go over the top here, styles make fights. Calzaghe would beat him again and Dawson is like a faster more skilled southpaw version of Taylor, his athleticsm would be too much for Hopkins.

Styles make fights, that's something alot of boxing fans don't comprehend, Calzaghe would win a scrappy fight again if they fought.

    See post above.

You would hope Dawson athleticism would get him, he's a million years younger and in his prime.

Styles do make fights and Kesslers style is all right for Hopkins :yep

Hopkins made this fight like the trinidad fight, he shut out the big puncher & made him look foolish. Very impressive victory & honestly why should he retire if he constantly must us look silly at 43 yrs of age. I'll say this if hopkins fougth taylor again he'd definately beat him.

This win more than justifys Old Man Enzo Calzaghe's claim that Hopkins was in a different class then kelly Pavlik , Hopkins maybe a freak but he was well beaten by Joe calzaghe last time out imo , Its all about adaptability and Kelly had trouble adapting to Hopkins style where as Calzaghe showed he is the MASTER of adaptability, This leaves Hopkins imo ranked in the very top tier of Middleweights in history , He and Calzaghe should forget all about fighting Dawson , Dawson is the future we need younger fighters fighting each other , the sport will suffer with its developement when these young belt holders get found wanting they way Lacy was with Calzaghe and Pavlik was with Hopkins .

Yeah for sure, definatley respect him for doing this at his age, but would have rathered see him do it to a natural light heavy.

Dont get me wrong TCW, I give Hopkins his props, but you have to keep things in perspective, 43 or not he was still the bigger man beating up on the middleweight.

Kessler? Why bring his name up? He's not gonna be fighting Hopkins anytime soon :huh Kessler would give Hopkins some problems though, that'd be a really tough fight to pick.

    Spot on.
Calzaghe has shown many times that he can adapt as the fight changes, the times he hasn't is simply because he hasn't needed to.

Something Kessler needs to do if he is to become great.

I thought Joe was effectively outpunched by Hopkins yet i agree with the decision ie. Hopkins landed the better cleaner punches but workrate let him down.

Adaptability - well i for one call it non stop workrate to confuse the judges :yep

If Split decision means well beaten then...
