but for this fight the ref will be bought off. So are the judges. The whole ****ing thing is set up for Calzaghe to lose.

Why do you think Hopkins was so offended when anybody mentioned that the fight should have taken place in the UK?

This 'master' of this and that rule-bending nonsense has to stop. Hopkins is one of the biggest names in American boxing and has huge influence. No ref, judge or promoter is going to risk alienating him if they don't have to, as it would most certainly jeopardize future jobs and $. Watch the Tarver fight and count how many dozens and dozens of times Hopkins charges and holds Tarver without any point deductions, with the ref looking on like an idiot. Hopkins gets away with whatever Hopkins wants to get away with, and will do so at the Calzaghe fight as well. That's why I've said from the beginning that Hopkins will walk away with a decision victory.

Well, I am of the opinion that ever since he beat Lacey, Calzaghe's stock has gone through the roof.

His wins against Lacey and Kessler were certainly impressive and Calzaghe is definitely a top fighter, but I do believe he's being way overrated here at ESB.

And I think the proof will be when Hopkins wins in two months.

Time will tell if I am right.

I completely agree. The fight is in Vegas. Unfortunately, this will be the deciding factor.

You know...posts like many in this thread show that all of you Calzaghe fanatics (again, not fans...I am a Calzaghe fan...big difference) arent as comfortable as you make it seem.

Deep down you all know Hopkins matches up with him very well...
Deep down you all know that its gonna be Joe's toughest fight ever.

This is why I keep hearing these excuses before the fight even starts.

Its funny, I feel Hopkins will win, and not once have I made an excuse to why he may lose. In fact, there is only one reason he will....Joe will be better that night...plain and simple. That is the only excuse available.

One question tho, if Bernard wins...you guys just gonna quit posting (I dont like ban bets....so I hope not)? You guys gonna give credit where credit is due? Or you gonna whine and make excuses?

At least have the class to let us know now so we will know what to expect.

Agreed with your prediction, but I think his craftiness, experience, and skill-level will have something to do with the outcome, too.

    Pre-emptive excuses!

To any reasonable observer, this isn't even debatable!

    :nod

And in the unlikely event Joe wins, he will get MAD props from me.

They're gonna make the Sugary Wladdy excuses following Wlad's loss to Brewster seem sane! Remember? The Green Man, the Sugar High, too much vaseline on his legs, DK had the fight fixed, etc?

Those will look reasonable compared to what we're going to see.

Hell, people were complaining after Hops outclassed Winky in a win he gets NO CREDIT FOR!

Good post! Have you checked your pm lately?

I do agree to a point, although I do think Calzaghe deserves plenty of praise as a fighter. I also see the fight going the opposite way to you, I guess we will both be waiting for April 19th to see if we are correct in our assumptions :good

Nobody is going to let you know now, that's as bad as admitting defeat or making excuses :smooch

It would be entertaining the possibility Hopkins wins this fight, any such traitors will be burnt alive

I wont have any problem giving Hop credit if he wins, as long as its a fair win. If he wins,(big if) he wins, and he gets the credit he deserves from me :good Although if Calzaghe wins, I will ram it down your throats  :thumbsup

Depends if credit is actually due. I'm not even a big Calzaghe fan really. I was always historically a Hopkins fan, actually, but I don't really approve of his recent behavior and would like to see him lose.

But the problem here is how this fight is going to go down. Hopkins will have literally every conceivable advantage going in (there's really been way too much of this **** going on in boxing lately). If this advantages prove to be a major factor in the fight then Hopkins really doesn't deserve much credit at all if he wins. Otherwise I'd be pretty satisfied (and impressed).

I've always respected your knowledge, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what's going to happend, does it?
I think it's pretty clear that Hopkins will get away with anything he wants to get away with, and you know aswell as me that Hopkins wouldn't agree on this if he weren't at least 80% sure of winning (wether it be dirty or just clean). We should write what we feel, and right now I feel like it's gonna be a dirty fight, Hopkins is all but someone Joe can just run over. But I think Joe had to gamble in this matter, he had to sign for this fight, and we'll see what happens, two legends going at it nonetheless.
Calzaghe fans should worry, it's gonna be ugly.

Man... you are such a dick. Imagine how much worse you'll look if Hops gets eaten alive.
