Bert Sugar is like that senile alcholic uncle/granddad. He is funny to be around and listen to, but only in small doses.
I hate the posing with his old man's hat and never-lit cigar that he insists on holding at all times. I look at him more as a huge fan of boxing than an expert. I'm up for watching him when I want to learn something factually about an old time fight or fighter I'm unfamiliar with, but I don't take his analyses or opinions on legacies too seriously.
as a boxing historian he is OK mainly because he's one of the few around today that has followed the game for so long. he's no boxing analyst and much of his mind is 'shot.'
Sugar is a bit of a con man and a fraud IMO. He does occasionally seem to know what's going on, but he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about most of the time. He also likes to fill in gaps with complete bull**** here and there. I think he's gotten extremely used to talking to people who know nothing about boxing.
He is a FAILED baseball writer that turned to Boxing as a last resort to save his career. He is a farce I do not know why people hang onto his every word like it is the gospel.
