LOL Andy Cruz won the poll and he couldn't even beat Muratalla These Cuban dancers need to stick to the amateurs. They literally almost always fail in the pro's in their biggest fights. Yet Boxing fans never learn and overhype them over and over
Even after a loss it’s still Cruz. Hopefully he fights again soon. I don’t know why Morrell is getting votes, he’s had three fights at 175: clear loss to Benavidez, clear loss to Khataev (got a gift decision), narrow points win over Hot Rod (some people thought it was a robbery but I thought Morrell edged it). Dude should be moving down a level to gain experience, or give Khataev a rematch, not signing up to take a beating from Callum Smith.
Given the thread was from over 18 months ago, it's easy to point fingers and laugh in hindsight. Cruz is obviously still a good fighter; he took rounds off Muratalla and was clearly the much smaller man in there. I'd have to say Iglesias now, he looks like he could have the full package.
Cuban style of slickness has been figured out years ago It's an overrated amateur-boxing based style that doesn't serve well in the pro rankings
What is going on with Ramirez? Another elite talent that I had/have high hopes for, could fall by the wayside...
That’s what I’ve been wondering. Really enjoyed seeing Robeisy Ramirez fight but seems like his career got derailed ever since losing to Rafael Espinoza. Quitting in the rematch certainly didn’t help matters. Honestly really disappointed.
Also: waiting for some americans/british to fight world champions with a record like muratallas in their seventh fight... Josh Kelly for example will fight this weekend. He was a british olympic hopeful. See how far he got. Cruz was the olympic standout. Just not as good as loma, but he still is quite decent
I had the pleasure of watching both Rigondeaux and Gamboa fight live and in their primes… Gamboa was special at 126…lightning fast at Primm NV Rigondeaux with a sneaky body shot to the stomach in the 6th at the Pearl Las Vegas.
