I think by the time he departed the sport, he was a better body puncher than Mike. With Tyson it was the right hand only. Ike was the rare breed who did it with both hands. He just dug those toes into the canvas and dug shots to the body on par almost with Kenny Norton. But Ike had to have more polishing once facing the elites. Norton is probably the best 2 handed heavy with a constant body attack. He must have thrown 40% of his punches to the breadbasket. Chuvalo was another 2 handed guy. All Frazier ever did was throw right hands to the body. Lots of the heavies are like Mike Tyson in that they only use 1 hand. Mike Weaver's left hook was nothing to ignore. Cooney really dug his left hook in there as well. Or early Foreman with that anywhere right hand to the body was devastating. I always thought that Ruddock and Tua should have used their left hooks to the body and not been headhunters. I think they could have sank it in there and froze opponents. Another guy they may have been able to use it was Tommy Morrison. He could bend at the knees and move his feet and throw that nasty left hook but he went upstairs with it also. I don't know if he could have dipped a little more and fired off that left hook of his to the belly. It sure would have been a brutal punch along the lines of Weaver's if he could have developed and used it.
Good point about Tua. He was pretty good body puncher and better boxer when he was younger. After Ruiz fight he gradually became more of a headhunter. And after Ibeabuchi fight things went downhill for Tua.

Tony Zale is one of my all time favourite fighters - thanks for the shout out - plus he also had an remarkable chin too - I'd dare say one of the most undentable (if thats a word) that I've ever witnessed on film - couldn't beleive the amount of hammer he absorbed in his final stand against Cerdan - that beggared belief for me:shock: a real hard man
