Not the greatest performance or the best, but the most complete, the one you can point to and say 'this fighter displays all the major skills of boxing in this fight'. For me, I'd say it's Golovkin-Lemieux, Gennadiy put on a beautiful performance imo, outboxing, pressuring, countering, and slowly breaking down a drowning Lemieux.

I think this thread topic was worthy of remaining its own thread - it's not quite the same topic as the one it was merged with.

For me, two performances that spring to mind straightaway are Tunney-Gibbons & Monzon-Benvenuti I:

Gibbons-Dillon appeared to be a masterclass going by reports, as well as Jeffries-Corbett 2

If you're looking for a brilliant 'boxing' performance then I would nominate Willie Pep in the second Saddler fight.

Nice pick on a simply unanswerable question, so many good candidates to pick just one from but many good ones have been suggested.

    Fun thread, good list.

Calzaghe - Lacy is one that always comes to my mind when I think of beautiful boxing performances. Joe out boxed him, out slicked him, and out fought him.. Lacy’s career ended up being a disappointment, but I think the loss to Calzaghe has a lot to do with that - rather than him just being no good.

I’d nominate Tunney-Gibbons as wel. It’s my favourite Tunney performance, even if Gibbons was past his prime. Looked like a light heavyweight Mike Gibbons.

Tunney-Gibbons is one of the best displays of aggressive counterpunching ever IMO.
