Froch has a good chin. He did get dropped by Taylor, but it was a good shot to the temple that did it. Some of the shots Taylor caught him with were huge and Pascal caught him big too. I don't know who has the best chin, though. Arreola took alot from Vitali and didn't want to quit in the end, but they made him.
I've never seen Clottey hurt once! I may have missed something in his bouts against Marg, Cotto and Baldomir - Cotto knocked him down because he was off balance, was he hurt? No. Did any of the three mentioned hurt him? No, not once!
Abraham, Andrade, Clottey, Mosley, Kessler (not sure yet, just never seen him hurt from a headshot), Margarito, Vitali,
Baldi caught him with a perfect.. and I mean perfect left hook square on the chin, as they were in a very awkward tussle at the time... And Clottey backed up, covered up, dcked about two other shots, and then went right back to whippin his ass. Margo never so much as stung Clottey. Not even remotely. And we all saw the Cotto fight.
Abraham does deserve props for the Miranda fight for sure. SSM has a great chin from what i have seen. I am not sure where i stand on Clottey at the moment. Yeah he was wobbled by boldomir and down against Cotto, but he took some good shots from Margarito and has never been KO'd. Bhop up there for sure.
I agree, Pacquiao has a very good beard. He wouldn't have taken those shots from legit 140 pounders like Cotto, Hatton, DLH otherwise. Another one who is overlooked is Mayweather. Remember that he comes from 130 and while his defence is excellent, everyone gets hit. He's never been down from a punch* - that is very impressive. *Technically he was down against Judah as his glove touched the canvas, but i think we can agree that he wasn't really hurt and even if he was, his "chin record" is still pretty clean.
Glen Johnson has faced some huge punchers, gets hit square a lot, and to my knowledge, has never been rocked. At this point, he might not be #1 anymore because of his age. Arthur Abraham is probably next on my list.
I think Pavlik should at least get mentioned. He took some shots from Miranda, Taylor and BHop. He went down in the first Taylor fight, but after how many punches? While he might not be able to eat as many punches as Froch does, he can take a few.
Good list. Kessler's toughness was impresive against Ward - he was catching a beating and a bit dazed from the headbutts and was still ready to fight.
Yeah I remember that. But when I say hurt, I mean in big trouble and ready to go. Everyone can be rocked, and punches are meant to hurt. But he took the shot, got his composure back, and like you said got straight back in there. He has said in an interview before that no fighter has actually hurt him, and I'd probably believe him.
