Completely untrue. Pea's inside skills were magnificent, easily better than Floyd's, which get overrated due to his lack of opposition, just like everything else about his game.

I was going to say something similar ....
People.... don't forget that Sweet Pea fought a lot better offensive fighters than PBF ever has, and Sweet Pea made them look even more helpless than PBF's opponents have looked. Pernell also fought guys who were much bigger and stronger naturally than PBF's opponents

I picked other. And that would be Wilfred Benitez. Wilfred made the great Thomas Hearns miss him all night 27 years ago when Hearns won the title from him, and Tommy never misses anyone. But with Wilfred, Tommy was missing big punches and even body punches. Wilfred could avoid a body punch on the ropes. Amazing radar. That is why Thomas had to use his jab and win a 15 round decision, he could not knock him out.

Its threads like these that worm out who knows what on ESB.

It sorts out who's been watching boxing for 1 year and whos been watching boxing for 10 years.

Anyone saying Mayweather either hasnt seen Sweet Pea fully, or has just made the judgement to provoke a reaction.

    Sweet Pea and easily.

Considering Mayweather fought an old, WAY past his prime Oscar and the fight was still close...and Whitaker fought Oscar when he himself was WAY past his prime and Oscar was just entering his...and the fight was still close.

Id say Whitaker looked better vs Oscar by a ****ing country mile. There is one point where Oscar throws an 11 punch combo...11 FREAKING PUNCHES all while Pernell has his hands down by his knees and Oscar misses EVERY PUNCH!!!

HOW IN THE HELL DOES FLOYD HAVE 31 VOTES!!!???

between sweet pea and floyd it has to be sweet pea who by far fought the better quality of fighters than floyd, which explains why sweet pea might of gotten tagged more than floyd. as thunderous as jlc and chico punched, they were did not carry the speed or power oscar and tito had in their primes. i think sweet pea matched floyd in the power dept, had better footwork, and give floyd fits with his southpaw style. floyd clearly lost to castillo the first time they fought, chavez would of beaten him by a wider margin, yet chavez got beat by sweet pea. i'd have floyd in the top 10, but i'd have sweet pea, willie pep, and loche in a 3 way tie.

Roy jones was a defensive master too, maybe not the best but he wasn't getting hit flush very often.

No doubt about this but his cherrypicking in the later part of his career has somehow dented the fight fans perception of the him.:-(

With Roy his defense was his offense. He had such quick hands if anyone tried to get close at all he could hit them with two or three punches before he landed anything. Problem is when his hand speed slowed down his defense got more porous.

PBF was not more "skilled" than Whitaker. What do you mean by "skilled" anyway"?

Whitaker was the better jabber, defender, counter puncher and body puncher. Whitaker is a TOp 20 ATG and PBF is probably TOP 100 ATG.

PBF never fought the likes of Pendleton Azumah Nelson, Chavez. The opponent has something to say about your "skills".

    Yes, I forgot Benitez.

    My list: 1.Whitaker 2. Pep 3. Benitez.

PBF defense is very comparable to prime James Toney'a s at supermiddleweight except that Toney better countered off the defense.
