I know that. But whenever people talk about he Hvyweights from the 90's he is the 4th. So if there is a list of 4, he will surely be on it. I think the poll should have 2 options:

1. Lennox Lewis
2. I don't know **** about boxing

What's so special about Lewis's resume in the 1990s then ?

If Holyfield wasn't much good in the early 90s, then it's safe to say he wasn't good in the late 90s either.
And the highlight of Lewis's resume in the 90s are his fights with Holyfield in 1999.

So what the **** did Lewis do in the 90s that made him so special ?

You already stated that he beat Holyfield.....TWICE! Out of those 4, he was the one fighting the real competition. The up and coming, dangerous fighters. He didn't feed on a 60yr old Holmes or 60yr old Foreman. He didn't win a title from a Fat, one-hit wonder Douglas. He fought and beat: Bruno, Tucker, Ruddock, Mercer, Morrison, Briggs, Holyfield, McCall, Golota (He destroyed Golota right after Golota gave Bowe a beating twice). He would have knocked the bull**** out of Bowes fat ass if he didn't publicly duck him on national television.

If you honestly think anyones resume stacks up to Lewis's, please present your case.

 

Not to mention, the very next year '00 he exposed the **** out of Grant, KO'd Botha and beat Tua.

 

While all this was going on, Holyfield was losing to Bowe, losing to Moorer and losing to....oh wait, who? Oh thats right LEWIS!!!

Yes, and I think Holyfield had slipped a bit by then. Lewis was still at his best.
I give Lewis credit for those fights, but I also give Holyfield credit for his wins.

Holmes and Foreman weren't 60 years old.

If those guys you mention were so dangerous and up and coming then when did one of them (Mercer) lose to Holmes, and another one (Briggs) needed a gift to get past a Foreman who was 6 years older than when Holy beat him ?

If Briggs and Mercer were so dangerous how come they got slapped around by these "60 year old" men ?

Mercer may have been "up-and-coming" when old Larry Holmes made a fool of him, but he was certainly not so when he almost beat Lennox Lewis.

Tony Tucker wasn't "up and coming" either. He'd looked like dog **** for years, but was being matched with bums as usual. He struggled to get past any decent fighter by this point, he even look **** against a blown-up light-heavy Frankie Swindell just before facing Lewis, but he was Don King's best hope for a while so he got given a high ranking.

You criticize Holyfield because he knocked out Buster Douglas for the title, but Douglas was the man to beat.

Well, you obviously favour fighters that Lewis beat simply because Lewis beat them.

For example Frank Bruno. Bruno (who Lewis struggled with a bit) was easy pickings for a post-prison Tyson, Tyson walked straight through him, the same Tyson got beaten up by Holyfield.
But I'm supposed to think Bruno's something on Lewis's resume that Holyfield's cant match ? I dont buy it.

Oliver McCall was mostly garbage too. But then a 45 year old Holmes did better than Lewis the first time against McCall.

Holyfield fought different fighters. They weren't lesser fighters.

 

Prime Holyfield lost to Bowe, so he could not be the best.
