Cotto and Ward, obviously two left handers with their dominate hand being their lead hand. Floyd gets an honorable mention. Wlad's jab is pretty much gone, can't consider him anymore.
1) Golovkin, Ward 2) Brook, Cotto 3) Wlad Given that I haven't seen Ward throw a jab in years but I assume he still got it.
Crazy how not long ago it seems this very thread had lots of answers that named guys who are either no longer active or just irrelevant now. When I first signed up: Quartey (although on the way out), Pavlik, Cotto, DLH, Wright ~ 2008-2010: Dzinziruk, Kessler, Johnson, Nishioka ~ 2012: Ward, Pulev, Guerrero Funny thing is Wladimir Klitschko was probably considered top 5 in the game in ALL those periods listed. :think Now, though, his jab is shot to bits. He just pushes it out perfunctorily in conjunction with grabbing or to range-find for (as opposed snapping it to set up) his power shots.
I don't think Wlad has a good jab anymore. He constantly overshoots it and never jab to the body or chest. Fighters are getting in constantly and he octopus the hell out of them. That's not the definition of a good jab. Kovalev on the other hand has great distance control with his jab. Knocking Caparello down and knocking Agnew out with jabs to the body certainly makes a case for him having one of the best, if not the best jab in boxing.
I wasn't aware that Ward was a lefty, but it makes sense because he's really ****ing good with that lead hand.
