What's so special with the Jewish boxers that we need to identify them? I'm just curious because I never saw a thread asking who is the most popular Muslim boxer, Buddhist boxer or Christian boxer.
Tis true and interesting. Although Judaity is more than a religion, but also entails an ethnic identity (Hebrew). For some people at least, there is no contradition between being Jewish and secular. Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not sure whether one can be Jewish and non-Hebrew (eg., whether the ethnically African Judah would be allowed to convert to Judaism).
Agreed, this comment striked me as well. I don't understand why discussing boxers' affiliation with one particular religion, infuriates others. This supposed cry for absolute equality and silence is probably nothing more then vailed anger towards another group.
