`It wasnt a close fight was it ?, was it a close fight ?, was it close before I knocked him out ?` Ali after KOing Foreman.
Ali on Frazier after the thrilla: `He is the greatest fighter of all times, next to me` Commentator, mishearing Ali: `except for you ?` Ali, realising in those split seconds he may have gave Joe a bit too much credit: `except for me.` :good

"That's Cricket" Frank Bruno after his defeat to Tyson in 1989 "I could never of beaten him, even at my best" Mike Tyson after his defeat to Lennox Lewis
cant remember who it was but i think they was fighting ali they told their wife that they was going to be in bed with the champion of the world tonight the fighter then lost and came back to the dressing room where the wife said am i going to Alis bed or is he coming to mine cant remember who said it but would like toknow
Like TBooze said, Wepner was the one who did that... apparently he bought his wife special lingerie to wear for the occasion and everything. I always get a laugh out of that one, and it's a fun one to tell too, even non-boxing fans get a kick out of it. For recent ones, David Diaz' post-fight interview after getting beat by Manny Pacquiao was a classic, especially "He was so fast I thought Freddie was ****in' in there hitting me too!" Check out the last round and interview here: [yt]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_DD1fKmW8g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_DD1fKmW8g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/yt] (Also gotta say, really great candor and sportsmanship from Diaz in that interview, very commendable).
thanks thats who it was and wanderer it really is a great quote one o the funniest i have heard willie pep also had afew good lines 'who hit me hardest, my third wife' was his best
Pep's funniest one was when he bumped into an old opponent and he was alleged to of said: "Lay down, so I can recognize you!" Alan Minter, famously, has the stupidest quote: "Sure boxers have been injured and killed in boxing; but none of them seriously."
When Carl 'Bobo' Olson won the vacant world middleweight title from Randy Turpin in 1953, he commented: "This title should belong to Dave Sands". Sands, the Australian champ with a 97 wins, 10 losses & 1 draw record beat Olson conclusively in both their bouts (1950 & 1951), and had been tragically killed in a motor accident in 1952.
Kostya Tszyu after beating Zab Judah when the proposition of a rematch was brought up. "Remember what Zab said to me when I asked him at the press conference? It is winner take all. The winner took all."
