Winstone has the boxing ability to outbox hamed but as good as winstone was I have a nagging doubt about his defence I just don't think it was as reliable as it should of been which could very well mean winstone visits the canvas at least once at some point . If winstone does get drawn into a fight I am pretty sure he has'nt the power to trouble hamed. I do see hamed hitting the ring floor also Though as his balance was pretty bad . Also hamed has fragile hands which could be a factor worry me . Not confident but I will edge toward winstone well maybe more question than answers really sorry:?
Naseem might get through Winstone, recovering from being a mile behind on point. Hoko/McGuigan would be an amazing war. I think McGuigan in his pomp was the better fighter and less likely to bust up, which shows how bad Paul's eyes were! McGuigan in eight, in a war to compare with the LaPorte fight.
Heavy: Harrison/Reid: Pele could bang to a level, which would be a worry for Audley, but Harrison was at least a level above Reid and should win comfortably. But Audley is that flakey I would not stick the mortgage on it. 200: Thompson/Notice: I never quite bought into Horace, I think that he would need to lose a few pounds, which would not help his cause, and if Currie could deck Notice, Thompson should be comfortable that his power will be the difference. 175: Andries/Finnegan: As mentioned a very close fight. The difference might be that Andries found a way to win some big fights, and Finnegan seemingly always found a way to lose bravely. 168: Wharton/Kaylor: Kaylor hit a bit of form at the end of his career at the 'new' division. I can see him comfortable outpointing Wharton for a long period in the fight. But Wharton's chin, strength and left hook might be the difference late on as Henry wins late. 160: Benn/Sibson: Sibson should have the edge here as Benn was far better as a 168lber. I think Sibbo can adapt the tactics Watson used, to win in the middle rounds. 154: Hope/Graham: With hindsight maybe not the most exciting fight, but one for the 'purists'. I think Graham should edge it, he was more unorthodox and even early in his career had some good names on his resume before moving up to 160. 147: Honeyghan/Laing: Yes it would of been fun, and if Kirkland took it serious, he may of had moments in the bout. But Laing with one exception (Duran), always lost at this level and I see Honeyghan coming out on top. 140: Neary/Ryan: Ryan could bang and Neary was hardly a defensive master. Neary should win inside four, but I think Ryan might just land a bomb early and shock Neary inside two. 135: Schwer/Watt: No matter what both would cut! Schwer did improve to the fringes of world class, but that improvement does not hold up against Watt's Indian summer of a career. Watts was a level above Schwer and as O'Grady found out, he would do what was needed to win. 130: Burns/Havard: Havard was classy, but bum hands cost him. I think Burns would make Floyd work at a pace he was uncomfortable with. And although Havard would have periods of dominance, I think Burns will out does the Welshman's edge in class. 126: McGuigan/Winstone: A pick'em. Maybe the edge, like with Chris vs Dennis, is that McGuigan had big wins, Winstone Glorious defeats. Either way maybe the one fight listed I would of most wanted to see. 122: Frampton/Brodie: Frampton looks impressive and on that potential I think he just may have the edge in a close battle. 118: Owen/Rudkin: We will never know what could have been for the Welshman, Rudkin showed what he was about for a fair period of time. Although he fell against the very best in the division, Rudkin beat the rest, and because of that I think he outpoints Owen. 112: McAuley/Magri: Magri was a fan favourite and although a thrilling fighter, Davey Boy's career was overshadowed by McGuigan. Yes, Magri peaked pre title, with the Laciar win (loss) being with hindsight perhaps his peak. But McAuley also had exceptional wins over the likes of Duke and Baby Jake and was more consistent. I take McAuley to win a see saw battle, as usual, having to climb off the floor to do so.
TBooze , didn't honeyghan and Laing sparred together a bit both were with lawless at one time I think . I seem to remember Laing being confident because of the time they sparred together . I may be wrong I really didn't consider the effect having to lose a bit of weight would have on notice good point
