That's actually a fundamental punching technique emphasized in Karate, twisting your fist at the point of impact. McCoy apparently used to do something similar, corkscrew punches and all that. Causes facial damage as well.

All McCoy did was turn his punches over, which has since become the textbook punching technique unless your name is Joe Calzaghe.

That's not how i've seen it described everywhere else. "sudden snap just as you land on your opponent's chin.

I never knew that about Mcoy.

I used to do karate as a kid and was pretty good at it before I stopped, I was **** at boxing though. I don't mean the karate technique which is the straight punch twist the knuckle technique you mean though my man, I'm talking about hooks. I'm just talking about generating power from nothing rather than throwing a prefect punch.

yeah, I don't mean that, that's afull extension of the arm, like what they teach you in karate as a beginner, to throw a fully extended arm and corkscrew at the end. I'm talking about hooks, you can get very close to a man, mere inches away and turn your knuckle on his chin from a side on position and cause a shiver to go up the side of his head. I don't mean the broom pole in the face effect. I mean the explosion from nowhere effect.

Just seems like a snapping jab to me. No notable difference, anyhow.

Ahh, well IIRC Dempsey mentions something like that in his manual hook wise. It's been many moons since i read it, i'll try and dig it up.
