Yep, agreed. I always liked him, but in the Ray Oliveira vs Emanuel Augustus fight i truly respected the man. Great job he did there. Have you watched that fight?
When a fighter gets dropped like Judah did and then gets up and starts to stumble like a newly born baby calf.....the ref has no choice but to stop the fight. I cant find fault with Nady on his stoppage of Tszyu-Judah.
Steele up to and including the Chavez-Taylor fight, was an exceptional referee. ......the fan backlash from the Chavez-Taylor fight of being booed everytime his name was mentioned before he refereed a fight, interfered with his usually solid work as a referee. Steele retired for several years and came back a few years back, and I thought did a good job in his second stint. I believe he's not refereeing now, but I'll always view him as a great ref. Listen, its easy to criticize referee's decisions to stop fights, but its them who have to live with themselves if a fighter gets badly and permanently injured as a result of him stopping a fight moments too late. I'm positive Richard Steele sleeps well at night with his decision to stop the Chavez-Taylor fight...... .....and if anybody heard Steele's explanation right after of why he stopped the Chavez-Taylor fight, he never shyed away from the media in his explanations, never contradicted himself, and he was firm and to the point on the reasons he stopped it. .....all signs of a referee that knew exactly of the situation, and signs of confidence that he felt he made the right decision.
my fave of all time is the little terrier mills lane. currently im down with corteez,as a fellow gambler anyway. lol.
Much respect for Lane :thumbsup "Bull****! He bit his ear" People don't seem to like Cortez that much though...
I like Kenny Bayless. Apparently he reffed DLH vs PBF and Margarito vs Cotto - but you never saw him. Just perfect :good I think Smoger and Weeks are also excellent. Nady is also decent, but gets a lot of hate for reasons already mentioned by others. Cortez really gets on my wick - shocker after shocker. He also thinks he is bigger than the sport, and engineers the fight so that people are talking about him. One thing not many people pick up..... When Herol Graham was knocked to the moon and back by Julian Jackson, Cortez gave Bomber a ten count - he was unconcious for the next four and a half minutes atsch
"Two points off him! Two points! He beat his ear"! All well mate, I'm leaving for work. Cyaz around :good
