First seen Joe back in 2008 & could tell he was the business then! What about Ali Black that was at Kirkintilloch as an amatuer I think he's Pro now? A 17 year old Connal McDonald is GB champ from Bravehearts in Whithorn is off to the World in a few weeks was beat very closely by the Russian world champion in the Europeans last year, Connal is one to look out for!
Out of the current crop of pros, realistically I don't think any will end up being world champions unfortunately. Ricky Burns - think he will do well if he gets a bit of confidence back and will clean up on the domestic scene, which seems to be where Hearn wants to take him. But just can't see him hanging with the big boys at world level again unfortunately. John Thain - I think John could end up to holding the British/Commonwealth title at somepoint as he's a terrific boxer and by all accounts was robbed in his last fight against Ronnie Heffron. However, I don't think he has the power to take it any further than that. Hope I'm wrong as he seems a genuinely nice guy and from what I've heard is very dedicated to the sport. Stephen Simmons - Will have his built up showdown with Wadi Commacho, knock him out in an early round and move on to bigger things, think we'll see Simmons getting hold of the British, Commonwealth and European titles before long. He's a solid guy as well as a tidy boxer with a bit of power about him, so who knows, he could go on to get a crack at a world title as over the last few years anyway I think there have been lesser boxers at Cruiserweight who have been up there. Not seen much of the likes of Iain Butcher or David Brophy so can't really comment on those guys. In terms of amateurs out there at the moment, I think the recent Championships were of a very high standard so don't think we've got too much to worry about in the coming years. Josh Taylor will no doubt do well but I think our best prospect will be Joe Ham - his style seems made for the pro game. Looking at what Billy has said about him regularly sparring and holding his own with pros just now is very promising indeed.
Iain Butcher slaughtered that scouse little fairy Satchell the decision was a disgrace he's who sprang to mind when i saw the title.
The light heavy from McCormacks gym is Tommy Philbin. Good fighter who will suit the pros when he turns over. Sam Ball from Danny Lees gym will suit the pros, strong fighter. Other Scottish boys who I think would do well if they went pro are Lochends Aston Brown and Keir Hardies Mark Mckeowan, plus the flyweight Reece McFadden from Forgewood.
Jonny Slowey is an excellent boxer, lacks power though. His biggest problem I think is his lifestyle outside the ring.
I am a fan of Stephen Simmons. Dunno if he has a World title in him but British, Commonwealth and European are a go.
Heard lot off good things about a young lad from my home town called Ryan Collins fights at super featherweight a think - anyone seen him tempted to go to his next fight
Just been looking threw a lot of Scottish boxers records on box rec and there seems to be trait of boxers lacking KO power , i wonder why that is ?
