Don't get me wrong. I know it's sparring. But too many time Morales could have landed that right hand and didn't want to. He could have knock him out if he wanted to.
seeing some of these old sparring videos truly makes you appreciate how good a lot of these "old school" fighters really were. Damn, I forgot how much of a beast Benn was.
That antillon v valero clip is very impressive. wow. Danny Green v james toney is the best though, toney is a psycho.
the backstory behind the session is interesting aswell, and it is a testament to greens toughness that he was taking toneys good shots and continued coming, which spurred toney on to try and knock him down or even out, which he was unable to do. That is what is impressive in most peoples eyes :good
It simply isnt true that Toney tried to knock him out, Toney played with him and outboxed him easy, i didnt see any strong punch from Toney all short punches just to show Green who is better, Toney much heavier but still much faster than Green and better in every aspect of boxing, just different class, and i read somewhere that Green called him out thats why Toney kicked his ass.
i have it on good authority that he was trying to knock him out, watch the whole sequence of clips from the session. Im not arguing that green was or is a superior boxer just stating his toughness. The actual story is that green was told toney would spar him and toney didnt turn up for 4 or so days, which led to green saying, jokingly "tell him if he doesnt come tomorrow ill put his lights out" which led to toney taking offense and coming into teach him a lesson, he also told his team to get his gun after the session after green told him to eat another donut. Its a great story and sparring footage which shows the skills of each guy :good
I watched the whole sparring and did not see any full power punch from Toney only short punches, and he made his point kicked Greens ass.
