I am watching them both against smaller heavyweights than themselves.

If you have two big guys fighting each other, then sometimes neither of them has a reach advantage to utilize, and it has to be settled in the trenches.

He did not establish proper distance, a jab or whatsover against Baer either, even fighting forward having a 4" reach + height advantage!!

Sure, no jabs thrown from the long guys either....

He did if you watch the fight, but he simply didn't have the power to keep Baer off him.

After he broke his ankle, he was effectively a tethered goat.
Do you imagine that I care?

I don't rate the value of my opinions based on how popular they are.

What those arguing for Carnera have achieved in this thread, is to get a lot of new evidence out there.

Those arguing for Bowe are just churning out the same tired old evidence.

One day somebody like me will write a book arguing for a reevaluation of Carnera's career, and then then we will see some real shift in the debate.

You may gloat over the fact that we have only created a small fire, but fires spread, and you are fanning the flames!

An incredibly inaccurate and self-serving assessment of this thread. Very disappointing, actually.

For those who missed it the previous go-rounds here are some fairly representative clips of that well-rounded, technically complete and superior superheavyweight great at work. Copied and pasted from a much earlier post:

If you still need footage, here's Primo demonstrating some of his superior outboxing skills by cutting off the ring-- I mean plodding around the ring following the slick, elusive Max Baer, while pawing and slapping with his jab:

Here we see his stellar long-range defensive skills and reflexes (while backing straight up with his chin exposed to a big puncher):

Here we see him looking awkward and slow against a fairly unimpressive, undistinguished superheavyweight foe:

In this short clip he reaches with punches, punches off the wrong foot while off balance, and backs away from an attack straight back with his head up and chin exposed:

Here we see him struggling to keep 200-lber Larry Gains off of him, en route to losing what was apparently a one-sided fight:

Here he's getting outjabbed by 6'0, 76-in reach Jack Sharkey:

Here he's looking clueless and out of ideas against 186-lb Tommy Loughran:

At least for me, it showed how flawed you could be those days a) having 60lb weight advantage b) keeping the quality of opposition in mind.

I wish you success trying. As long as you stay with the historical facts and maybe clarify some of the staged fights. However you´d think about the popularity of opinions, boxing community won´t like your H2H evaluation (and thats putting it mildly).

You missed the footage of Bowe being used as a punch bag by Andrew Golota!
