I like how Carnera’s left jab looks better on film personally. Ingo’s jab seems lazy and lethargic, although he may have had the better right hand. Overall I’ll go with Carnera marginally.
Primo Carnera better all round fighter, but Ingo's Bingo was no joke, he just was not around long enough, but was also dangerous in the ring.
I say Ingo. I rewatched his first fight with Patterson and his destruction of Machen fairly recently and remember having a higher opinion of him than I did before after watch il g those fights. He actually had pretty good footwork and movement for a heavyweight, much better than Primo's. He was also very solid defensively and did a good job of dictating distance. He definitely pawed with his jab a lot but again that was mainly because he was looking to land his two. He was not a guy that could fight well on the inside and he really used his pawing jab and good footwork to maintain distance for the crushing right hand.
Carnera wouldn`t have landed even one jab on Patterson, Ingo`s right hand was far sharper than Primo`s.
Primo wouldn`t have landed even one right hand on Patterson and would have ate a lot more shots than Ingo did v Floyd.
Carnera is the better all round fighter in the conventional sense, but Johansen might still be the more dangerous fighter. Johansen is a finisher, and that will always make him a force to be reckoned with.
Have you seen his fight with Sharkey? He was a perfect ring general that night who made the best of his size, in his prime he would easily control Floyd in the clinches with his monster like demonic strength and dictate the fight from the outside when broken up and feed his piston like right whenever Floyd pressed under Primos jab, Floyd cant handle Primos power be real. A boring one sided fight with alot of clinching and wrestling with the Saint preemium one two landing at will a very Wlad like fight really.
