Splitting hairs...Probably from the film Ive seen Locche is the better pure defensive fighter but you could easily argue Pep was better and he was probably better overall aswell.

Locche is the better on film, but you'd need someone that has seen both in their primes to really answer that one.

    going from film

i would say pep as he was moving all the time and if you threw you would probably hit air

    but

locche if you punched you hit his arm

    although they are both geniuses

I'd say Locche. None other than Ray Arcel said that Locche was the greatest defensive fighter who ever lived.

I disagree. I honestly think Locche not only deflected and caught better, but slipped and rolled better as well. At least from most of the footage I've seen, of which there is little of a prime Pep. Pep undoubtedly had better lateral movement though, and a much better offensive arsenal.

theres no doubt pep had the better offense

i just think (from what i have saw) pep was in and out of range before you could hit him and if you did manage to keep him in range hewould slip and deflect it then move

whereas locche tended to stay in range and slip and block as good as pep

When you fought Locche, you'd be lucky to land one shot on his head. And you'd be even luckier to lan da body shot. The guy could deflect, duck, dodge, move (though not as much as Pep could move) but trying to hit Locche was a near impossible task. You gotta love hos in his fight with Paul Fuji, in which Locche won the title, Fuji became increasingly fruistrated because of his inability to land ANYTHING on Locche.

This is part one of 4:

Both marvellous ,I think Pep relied more on his legs ,Locche may have had better head movement, and shoulder feints.
