Better fighter by next year: Usyk or Lomachenko?

    Yes, part of why America doesnt do great in amateurs is that yes, many do go pro at 17 and 18, I didnt change my argument.

    My real argument though is that people are giving WAY too much credence to amateurism, which is essentially boxings version of age grade rugby or soccer, or college american football.

    Some great players were prodigies, some developed later...the important thing is they made it when they made it to the pros.

    No one cares if a guy was an average amateur if they make it in the pros.

    Likewise people who win golds in the amateurs but who bomb as pros(Michael Carruth/Audley Harrison) get forgotten about.

    I dont see this massive drop off in American pros. I simply see more people from countries who couldnt go pro before going pro.

    Thats all. America still produces top pros....whether they're good amateurs or not is basically irrelevant.

    Thats my point.
