More world titles, more world titles in different weight divisions, stronger resume, he beat Tito h2h clearly (8 rounds to 4 IMO). It's close but clear for Oscar for me, not even a debate.
You should know titles don't mean anything in this sport anymore ... there's too many of them. Tito defended his welterweight title 16-times - He unified titles in 2 weight classes - He beat prime fighters ... he beat down many fighters and stopped them from being champion during his reign. Don't forget that DLH has been chasing Tito's legacy every since he loss to him -- DLH declined a rematch ?????
Titles in more weight divisions, better resume, Oscar beat him h2h. Sorry, there's nowhere else to go, you can't argue with those three points in my mind.
Exactly. DLH is somewhat difficult to rank for me given his close calls (I had 3 of his wins as losses and 2 of his losses as wins), but overall he compiled a better resume than Tito, accomplished more through several divisions, and I had him winning their actual fight. That's enough for me to rate Oscar higher, although not by any massive margin.
What! He punked out on fighting Margarito way after his prime. And he was robbed in your boy Trinidad's fight. Plus even if all of Puerto Rico loved him, Trinidad never generated the numbers Oscar did.
I can't hate on Oscar, but I think Tito's legacy will be greater, just because he beat more Prime fighters.
Same here, it's not a massive margin by any means, but it's definitely of the "close but clear" variety.
It is easy to spot your bias when it comes to the key wins being listed. William Joppy is comparable to Ike Quartey and Oscar also defeated Fernando Vargas. Oscar definitely better resume and better legacy.
tito trinidad ended the career aspiration of the young vargas and has better boxing skills..but dela hoya's timeliness would be the difference
Wow! no disrespect but your way off on saying Tito has better boxing skills. Tito was very limited boxing skill wise. Just watch Tito versus Hopkins, Winky, heck you can even watch Tito versus Oscar and you'll see how limited he was as a boxer. Oscar lost but was never dominated the way Tito was. (except as an old, shell like version of Oscar when he fought Pac) And I'm not even and Oscar fan.... real talk. Around my circle of boxing friends, I have always been the most critical when it comes to Oscar, but he is still better than Tito.
