People who thinks Donaire have better wins for the last two wins are obviously not following the sport but their idol.

  4. Donaire is judged by a higher standard.

Even if resumes were switched., people will say Mares has a better resume.

Nonito has more impressive wins against Montiel and Nishioka, while Mares struggled against guys like Agbeko and Darchinyan (whom Donaire demolished earlier in his career)

for the last two years let's compare them.

    top wins for mares
    1. moreno - ranked top 10 p4p, moreno moved up to challenge mares at 122. close fight imo but mares won clearly.
    2. agbeko2 - rematch after a questionable win in the first fight. one of the top players at 118. a decisive win.
    3. darchinyan - good close win over a still relevant and ranked vic.
    4. agbeko1 - a close fight where the referee's incompetence ruined the tone of the fight
    5. morel - a decisive win over a game morel. good win.

    top wins for donaire
    1. montiel - ranked top 10 p4p, decisive early stoppage over montiel who has been on a hot 4 win stoppage streak including hasegawa.
    2. nishioka - decisive win over the #1 ranked 122 fighter.
    3. sydorenko - a decisive stoppage over a top player at 118 who has a a close fight with moreno.
    4. mathebula - a clear win over a game ranked opponent at 122.
    5. narvaez - a clear shut-out decision over a very good veteran who moved-up a division to fight donaire at 118.
    6. vazquez jr. - a good win for donaire for his first fight at 122 over a ranked 122 player. close but clear for donaire imo.

so imo, donaire's top 2 wins ( maybe 3) eclipse that of mares slightly while the other wins of mares is also better slightly than donaire's win over narvaez and vazquez jr.

It's close. Though I will give it to Donaire by a little.

    Nonito.

I thought darch beat mares and the first agbeko fight was essentially a no contest. His last three performances have all been solid however.

Donaire as done better in each division though, sidorenko and montiel are better victories than mares managed and wv2, mathebula, narvaez and Nishi are better than morel and Moreno

I'd love to see the two unify, both prime, p4p ranked and both hold titles.

    Mares, imo.

Im talking overall resume, not wins. So whether Agbeko or Vic beat Mares doesnt matter to me. That he fought them, does. And I think that the people Mares has fought hold more weight overall in the last two years then the ones Donaire has.

    Just imo.
