BETTER WIN: Pacquiao vs Barrera 1 or Mayweather vs Corrales?

Here are some facts I just found on the Mayweather/Corrales fight:

Floyd Mayweather (24-0, 17 KO) vs Diego Corrales (33-0, 27 KO)

Coming into the bout Mayweather and Corrales were undefeated and neither fighter had been knocked down

Mayweather was ranked by RING Magazine No. 2 in the Super Featherweight division while Diego was the top ranked super featherweight in the world

Odds were about even on this bout

Both fighters were 23

Diego was 3-4 inches taller and had a longer reach.

Both fighters made weight at 130 lbs but Corrales entered at 146 lbs while Mayweather stepped into the ring at 136½ lbs.

During the fight, Larry Merchant stated, "Mayweather fights in a tradition of boxing and quick handedness that goes back in Michigan, all the way to fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson".

Harold Lederman remarked, "Jim (Lampley), I gotta tell ya, I'm terribly impressed, I don't think I've seen an exhibition of boxing like this since Willie Pep, this kid is unbelievable, great legs, great speed, unbelievable ring-generalship. I mean he's got tremendous presence in that ring, Floyd Mayweather knows where he is, every minute of this fight..."

 

why is it so hard to comprehend.... he lost to Poison twice and lost to morales?.... who would have predicted he was going to be a Bonified ATG back in 2001? He had the potential to be an ATG, but his legacy wasn't set yet, anything could have happened, this is boxing were talking about... But is Humberto soto an ATG because he beat Rocky Juarez?? How about OScar Larios?

Like i said before ATG status is determined at the End of your career rather then during your active career.. Thats like saying Victor Ortiz is an ATG because he beat BERto who was the best win of his career. Cmon man think about it, its not hard.

 

Floyd will get credit bro, but don't expect too much praise! He has too many advantages, but the one that might matter most, age, might or might not affect the outcome vs Pacquiao. Only real advantage for Pacquiao he's younger. Floyd got plenty of praise when he was a risk taker taking on all comers like Chicanito, who in his day was as good or even better than Chico, Castillo, Corrales, Gatti, but once he got to 147, the praising stopped cuz the risk taking did as well.

 

You do realize it's 2015 and not 2001?

That's what we mean when we say we know that he was an ATG with hindsight.

It doesn't mean that we knew he was an ATG at the time, but with hindsight, now in 2015, we can say that yes, yes he was.
