Bigger hypejob: Canelo Alvarez or Anthony Joshua?

Not sure how you can label a fighter who's held multiple world titles in one division as a hypejob. And they both did it multiple times.

My goodness, the logic that's been pushed in these thread lately......

 

I don’t know about hype jobs but they’re probably my two least favourite boxers of the current era for different reasons.
Canelo for his ageing out of Golovkin, for being the Mexican mayweather in fight negotiations, being juiced to the gills, for his fans saying he was in the conversation as greatest Mexican ever, etc.

Joshua for his weird fake bad man / stay humble personality, excuses, and overratedness before Ruiz and Usyk beat him.

 

Definitely Joshua, worse than they portrayed him to be, was dominant against past prime fighters...

 

Neither, both AJ and Canelo were world champions, won some lost some.

Both for the most part did their fighting in the squared circle, rather than trying to trash talk and think they were comically entertaining.

 

Like or dislike Canelo, Big Red always eventually stepped up and dared to be great. Ole Big Red quickly, after GGG, decided he was a middleweight and then even a LHW. I’m not a fan of some of the stall tactics Canelo used years ago but he more than proved himself and his point that he can and will step up and outside his comfort zone.
AJ tried but that chin always got him caught slipping and Canelo never been KTFO

 

AJ as the ginger does at least have 1 ATG trait which is his chin. Joshua has no elite traits

 

I cannot stand this kind of language when talking about world championship caliber boxers. For the most part, the phrase hype-job is just a dog whistle to signal how you just dislike a fighter. Were both men possibly overrated respective to their ability at certain points of their career? By some, yes. Does that diminish the fact both are legitimate world champions, one a unified world champion, the other a 4-weight world champion who was the lineal champion in 3 of those divisions? No, of course not. If a guy is being touted as the next big thing without any real success at world level, then I guess I could see where someone might be coming from, like a prospect who never managed to put it all together. But to call world champions hype-jobs is just absurd. The amount of talent, skill, and dedication to the sport you need to make it to world level is insane. Most folks calling world champs hype-jobs and bums couldn't even do a solid 3 minutes on the bag. It's just a toxic, negative rhetoric which accomplishes nothing other than diminishing the careers of men who are in the top 0.2% of the boxers competing on the planet.
