That's true and the reason is most of them took a sustained beating over several rounds.Being banged out early with one shot doesn't leave the legacy of damage that a grinding beat down does.
While there is no accurate way to measure a man's power I'm thinking Marciano was the more powerful of the two. He holds the highest KO percentage of any heavyweight champion and demonstrated his punching ability in a larger number of fights against a longer list of quality opponents. The other thing is that I believe Marciano hit hard in BOTH hands where as Ingo carried most of his sting in his right.
Neither did Marciano. Ingo was a one pot shot power guy. Marciano was a relentless bruiser who had two good hands, his punching was never that accurate he hit you anywhere he could. Ingo used to train by having a sock filled with sand thrown at him from different directions,he was accurate with his Bingo.
Marcianos right hand was called the Suzy Q because he knocked men out with one punch Who did Johannson ever knockout with 1 punch? Certainly not Patterson or Machen Who did Johansson knock out with one punch as good as Walcott?
Ingo's Bingo was called that because he knocked guys out with it so what does that mean? In case you haven't grasped it I picked Marciano. You probably didn't notice because you were too busy charging pell-mell to Rocky's defence yet again! ps I don't think Ingo knocked anyone out as old as Walcott.:-(
Your right that Marciano punched with a lot of Volume, but to say that Marciano did not have at least some of the greatest one puch power is turning a blind eye for some reason. Nobody has ever knocked out every fighter and every power pucher at times has needed to land a lot of puches to get his man out of there if at all. Can you name one power pucher who did not struggle to knock out some opponents?
....i am not a marciano and think he is highly overrated but ingo had nowhere the power rocky had in his right hand or left hand. i have nothing to add.
Ingo had that one dimensional style but very powerful as he showed against the durable Machen, Ingo was a fast starter while Marciano always carried his power, if he couldn't land the bomb he would grind you. Ingo was not as good a finisher as Marciano nor did he have the whiskers. His power was very good but I think Marciano had a better variety of power shots and threw them in unpredictable rhythms and angles. Marciano also had a few one punch KO's Ingo had to hit you with a few as I recall vs Patterson and Machen
How good was Rex Layne? Floored by Satterfield. Floored 3 times by nobody Willie James 11-2-1 Carried to his corner by his seconds and stopped by Charles Dropped 3times and kod by Charles in another fight. Kod in 1 round by Earl Walls. I beleive this was a one punch ko? This content is protected Kod again by him being floored 3 times. Stopped twice by Hurricane Jackson. Floored by moderate puncher Bob Baker.
Rocky clearly the better two handed banger and had the punch all through the fight as he was far better conditioned .. Ingo's right looked a bit nastier as it was straight and a bit faster ... very comparable ..
