Devon Alexander, when he stopped Urango and Witter, I thought he was gonna be the next big thing, seemed hungry and a good skill set.

I wouldn't call him a hypejob... but I was a big fan of Acelino Freitas. I never expected his career to end the way that it did.

Also a big fan of Jeff Lacy. However, if you followed his career... you would know that his career was ruined in the second round of his fight AFTER Calzaghe... when he suffered a full thickness tear in his left shoulder. He fought the rest of the fight with that tear... and his left hook was never the same afterward. He could barely throw it.

Pavlik comes to mind, although part of what happened with him could be because of his out-of-the-ring issues. Still, he was tooled against Hopkins.

Kevin Mitchell . . . I learned that night to never put money on a hype job when you dont research the guy hes fighting properly.

I remember thinking "****** wont risk his hype job against anyone good! Kevin should stop this bum!"

1 year later and Michael Katsidis has had 2 losses to world class opposition and gave them both a good fight . . .

1year later and Kevin Mitchell still hasnt fought . . .

    ****!

    Dear Blake Rayne
    kind regards
My pick has to be Andrew Golota.
He looked like Drago, had boxing ability and whipped Riddick Bowe twice.
The Ring magazine bought the hype for a time predicting that he'd wipe out the division.
Lennox Lewis popped the hype balloon and its went downhill ever since because Golota has a limited heart and fragile mind.
    yours thankfully
    John

why did anyone think alexander was the next big thing? because he ko'd urango? urangos one of the most crude fighters out there. i never thought devon was that great. he moves ok but doesn't throw his punches correctly and is inaccurate. that much was clear after the witter fight.

Im gonna go with Abraham here, still think he will make some waves back at middle though ( i might be that delusional yes)
Something just seems to be wrong with him though, i dont know if its the money or the fame that he got.
But this was a man that went through hell and back losing tons of blood and having a broken jaw to someone who got easily discouraged and would not open up anymore.

(i will also admit that i STILL believe he would have and still would beat Pavlik, but thats mostly cause i think Pavlik is completely shot)

i cant speak for everyone but i'm not dissapointed by the way he performed against wlad because i expected it to go that way but worse (wlad ko).

but what dissapointed me is lack of activity, he would have long lay offs inbetween, i wanted to see him vs povetkin and boystov and even adamek before he went to fight the klits.

    No votes for A-Force?

When he came into the heavyweight division and after winning gold in OZ I thought he was going to rip through the heavyweight scene as soon as Lewis was gone.

Big guy who stays in shape, with good power.

Little did I know that he was terrified of getting punched and would flinch every time someone threw a jab at him.
