Biggest mismatches you can make between ATGs

Yeah but it wouldn't likely be a one sided destruction like the OP specified. Patterson would make Rocky work for his money that night.

 

60s Ali is just too fast on his feet. + also better reach. Louis would have much problems cutting off the ring, finding his distance. He will walk into many fast Hands. Just like Liston who had similar size. Ok worse handspeed but better reach and kinda ponderous legs too.
Imagine Joe Walcott: much faster, better reach, taller, younger, much more athletic, faster hands...i say mismatch!

But i favor Louis over 70's Ali. Ali will tire after 2,3 rounds. Louis will box in his preferred range. Things will look very different.

I'm not so sure. Liston fought in an era where the average heavyweight was 185 pounds and while he did have a lot of KOs, there were fighters who were under 200 pounds that took him the distance. After watching Liston vs Whitehurst and Machen, it gives me hope for the Conn's and Charleses of the world vs Liston. At least in them making it the distance.

Liston may EVENTUALLY take Conn's head off, but it probably wouldn't be a 1 round, Tyson/Spinks like stoppage you're imagining

 

I don't think it's gonna be a round either, Conn is a good runner.

 

Greatest mismatch between ATGs:

Ricardo Lopez, undeniably the GOAT at Miminum/straweight.
vs. I am gonna say...
Muhammed Ali, so now chance the former can be fast enough to pepper & avoid a peak Ali in a track meet.

Oh I could go with a SHW like Lewis or Wlad, but they could theoretically, however extremely improbably, be unable to land enough on a very fast tiny man (with huge endurance).
Getting too tired to effectively chase him after a while.
Also at least a rehydrated Lopez could come in a bit over half of peak/'60's Ali weight.

Nobody qualified that the ATGs needed to be in the same division!

Julian Jackson vs. Shane Mosely at JMW.

As great as Shane was at LW, and the great work at WW, he was not a good JMW at all. And he used to get clocked clean a bunch, imagine that hardest hitter in history clocking him at JMW.

That's like putting a flyweight in against a light heavy, and both are ATG's, this isn't putting Wilde in against a no-hoper light heavy. The size and strength difference is just insurmountable when the big guy is good.

 

This is going to definitely favor heavyweight matchups since power plays such a big factor.

I'm going to say Foreman vs Louis, it might be a underrated opinion but I believe Louis simply just can't stand in front of a prime Foreman and come out unscathed.

There’s not a lot out there that would be more one sided than Tyson against Spinks.

Roy would probably make Hearns and Leonard look terrible at 160, 168, and 175.

Also totally disagree with the idea of Sanchez having an easy night with Pacquiao. Not sure he even wins.
