Just rewatched Chavez vs Taylor and was wondering if this was the best performance ever against a guy (i think) who was universally recognised as P4P number one. He beat him in evrey department- boxed him, body punches, infighting and counterpunching. I don't want to get into a debate about the result and controversy, but have you ever seen that dominant performance against someone like Chavez?

sweet pea's is better imo, chavez wasn't allowed to perform at all in that fight. another suggestion is honeyghan over curry, although hagler was probably censous no.1 at that time come 2 think of it.

Wasn't Toney really high in the rankings when he got beat by Jones?

Good point, think many had him as no1 rightly or wrongly.

    I'd say Jones vs Toney.

Monzon overwhelmed Napoles. But Jose was out of his natural weight division, so don't know whether that counts. Honeyghan-Curry is another beating.

pretty sure he was p4p4 1 in that very short space of time. If so then that fight has to be right up there in this thread

I believe Trinidad and Mosley were recognized as p4p number 1 by the Ring Magazine.

After Whitaker "beat" Chavez till Jones beat Toney. About for a year there was some debate between Whitaker and Tiney as the #1 p4p. Most had Whitaker #1.
