Canelo is false p4p king, because he lost to Golovkin twice.

However, he doesn't have to pay Bivol or the judges to defeat Bivol. So, no, it will not be sparring.

Having said that, Kovalev vs Canelo looked sparring to me as well. Either that or Kovalev was too cautious to attack Canelo.

 

Draw in the first fight, canelo 115-113 in the second fight. Both were very close fights

That's the thing, tho. Canelo doesn't need the Kovalev fight for his legacy. BJS, Plant and now Bivol all are more significant fights. Why? Because Kov obviously was a shot fighter.

If you want to criticize team Canelo, you could say they cherry picked an obviously vulnerable fighter with a big name. Would they have matched Canelo against the 2014 Kov? I doubt it, at least not at that point in Canelo's move up in weight.
