Considering Canelo is a belt holder at 175 and 168 (if you count that belt), it shouldn't be a surprise there are people calling for this fight.
Bivol also recently called out Canelo saying he would go down to 168 to make the fight, so a thread was made to discuss this hypothetical matchup.

Canelo isn't a full time 175 pound fighter though. Beterbiev- bivol is a more important fight for the division than canelo-bivol is. Canelo is going to fight at 160 and 168 from now on.

Let me rewrite what I wrote.

    Canelo has the 175 belt.

Bivol said he'd go to 168.

Canelo's too tough and defensively capable/responsible.

    This sounds likelier to me.

Yes and when canelo beats him at 168 he won't get the credit he deserves and people will say bivol was drained. It will be similar to when dawson called out ward at 168 got destroyed and got no credit.

This post is on topic, your initial one wasn't. Well done.

I disagree, I don't think it's a lock Canelo will beat Bivol. Whether or not people say Bivol is drained likely depends on his performance on fight night and if Canelo insists on a rehydration clause again.

Nah... as a fan I would demand Beterbiev and Bivol fight.

Sick of all these fighters avoiding each other trying to hit the lotto.

I guess not all fighters are like Canelo and DLH who are willing to take challenges.

    Beterbiev kills Smith Jr.

    Pedigree counts.

Beterbiev has gone on record saying he wants to collect all the belts, regardless of who has them.

    He wants unification fights.

He also thinks Canelo is too small for 175lbs and he would get wrecked if he had a real challenge but would welcome the fight.

Bivol's team - and Bivol himself - do not want the Beterbiev fight. They already sparred together and Beterbiev battered him.

Beterbiev should just start chasing the biggesg fights possble, drop the nice guy act and start becoming ruthless and call out Canelo for the big money.

At 168, I don't really know how Bivol would operate down there. I know he can be a bit boring at times but the dude is very very hard to beat.

I don't want to see it that much though. Bivol is throwing out 168 because the fight is more attractive to Canelo there and Bivol wants that pay day. I wish he'd just stay at 175. The Beterbiev fight is there to be made, or hey let's not forget about Gvozdyk either. Canelo has a legit win at 175, if he wants to fight there then fair enough let's get it going but I cba with guys jumping around weights just trying to entice the pay day.

that I agree with 1000% as a fan.
But from the perspective of the fighters
    I completely understand man.

After all it is called prize fighting not pride fighting.
Tough business & tomorrow not promised gotta get all they can while they can.

Callum Johnson nearly had Beterbiev out of there. AB has little in the way of defence and doesn’t look that durable, a KO waiting to happen. If Smith Jr lands it could be curtains.

I’d rather see Beterbiev fight Bivol but if he fights Canelo, I would have to give Bivol the edge. Too young, too prime and too skilled for the smaller man. Canelo is a better technical boxer but I think the size and youth advantage would benefit Bivol. Still a good matchup even if it’s at 168.

The man has walked chin first into worse fighters than Smith Jr. I wouldn't love him half as much if he tried to box like an amateur.

The real reason Dawson got smoked was because Edison Miranda brutally KO'd him during training camp. That's why Ward's shots literally buzzed him and made him jelly-legged. That brain wasn't ready to be rattled by punches again.
