if they fight on dec 8th I have to favour alvarez if they fight in a year and a half from now, I'd say maybe Bivol if he develops nicely. Lop sided poll but so was ALvarez vs Kovalev. and even during the fight nobody saw what they should have. "krusher is easily Krushing him!!!"

Styles make fights though, Bivol would be tougher for Alvarez than Kovalev. He has faster hands, he throws more combinations and has faster feet.

I don't see it, if he does take the immediate rematch he will get blown away quickly. Kovalev's problem is so much a technical or physical issues, A. he has poor conditioning, if you can weather the storm and preserve some energy late you will get chances in the second hlaf of the fight. B. his biggest issue is mental, he has quit in him. He is such a front runner that when he gets in trouble he doesn't know what to do. He is arrogant he fights like he doesn't believe his opponent can hurt and contributed to what lost him his fight against Ward and Alvarez.

Likely the biggest fight of the year. Yes McGregor-Khabib is likely bigger than GGG-Alvarez II.

Alvarez has a good chance, and watching Bivol against Chilemba he didn't know what to do with him after a certain point in the fight. Alvarez can box, so that makes him very serious and he needs to make his money now , the clock is ticking.

alvarez is not going back in the ring in 4 months. March or April much better.

Since people are citing Bivol's performance against Chilemba (who he handled better than everyone sans Gvozdyk lol)

18-0 Alvarez W12MD Isaac Chilemba (many feel Chilemba won)
19-0 Alvarez W10 UD Robert Berridge (no KDs Berridge took the fight on late notice)

13-0 Bivol WUD12 Isaac Chilemba (Bivol won at least 10 rounds IMO)
8-0 Bivol WTKO4 Robert Berridge (Bivol dropped Berridge x 3)

28-0 Andre Ward WUD12 Sullivan Barrera

    12-0 Bivol WTKO12 Sullivan Barrera

20-1 Sullivan Barrera WUD10 Felix Valera (Valera dropped Barrera)

6-0 Bivol WUD12 Felix Valera (Bivol dropped Valera x 2)

23-0-1 Sergey Kovalev WKO7 Cedric Agnew

    10-0 Bivol WTKO4 Cedric Agnew

I can’t see HBO or Days Inn streaming or anyone else putting big money behind a card going head-to-head against it. Maybe a show on UK time aimed at a UK audience, or if a promoter somehow got locked in to the date then it would be wise to put on the lowest star power, cheapest show possible to minimize the embarrassing loss.

It's all about location. You can make sure that the shows don't overlap. Just this weekend i got to watch Kovalev-Alvarez and then tune into the main card of UFC 227.
But it does make sense not to heavily invest on a card.
