I disagree. He's very well rounded with good standup & great wrestling. GSP is very underated here, he can adapt his style to any opponent.
Is that why he was able to pick BJ apart on his feet? His strenght made him do this? GSP did pass his guard with no technic? Please.
GSP did what he needed to do against a smaller opponent. He took BJ down, wore him out with G&P and continued to brutalize him. BJ was ok in the first round and was catching GSP with a couple of Jabs, but it was all over when he got taken down, he got worn out by the stronger, faster, bigger guy.
Why? Georges St. Pierre beat Matt Hughes 9 times out of 10. We didnt even see the best of St. Pierre it seems, as he is getting better. GSP is a bad matchup for Hughes.
Dont mind them, these guys have only been watching MMA for 2 years. Heres the thing Matt Hughes is the greatest WW in history ever. Fact!
You take the best Matt Hughes EVER, put him vs the GSP of last night. GSP won everytime by TKO in the 3rd round. MMA has evolved, Matt Hughes will always lacks the striking to make it competitive with GSP. That's a fact.
Matt Hughes is the greatest WW of history, no doubt. But at the rate of GSP, give him 2 more years, and he will be by domination.
On paper, Hughes has an excellent record and I can't easily see why one could claim him as being the best welterweight in UFC history. However, if you want to talk head to head matchup, I think a prime GSP would always beat a prime Hughes. It's a very bad style matchup for Hughes. So, on the basis of that I would call GSP a better welterweight than Hughes and thus, the greatest WW in MMA history. Of course, that's just my opinion. I would never be so presumptuous as to try and pass that off as "fact!"
He's the greatest based on his resume, not based on who is the better fighter. GSP is a better wrestler than Hughes ever was, and his striking and jits game is far, far more evolved. When GSP pads his resume more, he will likely take that slot from Hughes. He's already a far more talented fighter. But yeah, at this point it comes down to, "What have you done?" Hughes has done more.
Yes, exactly the point I was trying to make. I just have a hard time proclaiming Hughes as the best champ ever when there is another guy in GSP who I think dominates Hughes prime for prime every single time they meet.
:good And do we have seen the best GSP yet? I don't know:happyBut the version of yesterday, beat every WW of UFC history.
