Blackwell-Eubank: Who wins and how?

Intriguing fight here. How do people think it will go on the night?

I think the jab will be key - if NB uses his jab to maximum effect it could really pay off against the strangely jab-less Eubank.

 

Amazing to see that they are staging the fight in a shopping centre (Glow, Bluewater), especially when you consider the size of the winning purse bid. Surely Blackwell v Eubank is big enough for a decent size arena?

 

Depends what the rights fee is from the broadcaster and how the arena is set up. Rights fee for this fight could be higher than usual given the Eubank name. Also does the Bluewater subsidise the cost of the arena hire? If so it's a no brainer if they get the arena for a minimal outlay.

As for the fight Eubank will be slight favourite but discount Blackwell at your peril.

Blackwell may be more skilled than "tough man" Spike, but he has half the power.

At least Spike had half a punchers chance, Blackwell has no chance.

Pretty disappointed with Jr, seems too scared to fight Jacobs at this stage and hoping for a BJS fight.

I'm pretty disappointed with you for saying that james! Why has Blackwell 'no chance'?

 

Just my opinion, I just feel the gap in skill and talent is too great and even if Blackwell lands a "hail mary" on the button, it wont stop a chin like Jr's. Spike hit a few that wobbled Jr, but Spike hits a fair bit harder from what I have seen any way.

 

no prob -its just that i dont think you are giving NB enough credit - he has skills too. He wont be relying on any 'Hail Mary' - he is a grinder who exerts subtle, under=appreciated pressure: most of his opponents mysteriously fall apart right around the 5-6 round mark. This cant be a fluke if it keeps happening - and it does.
Also while CEJ is proving to be a great athlete, yes, (good genes for it I guess) he is not by any means a great boxer IMO, at least not yet.

 

This fight is the biggest challenge of Nick Blackwells career (the Murray fight was never a realistic challenge at all, not at the time). He cant expect Eubank to run out of gas and crumble after 5-6 rounds like Khomitsky, Ryder and many others. Whatever about his shortcomings as a boxer, CEJ is a great athlete with an amazing engine.
