I personally dont want to see Floyd fight anyone from 140. There isnt much to pick from at 147 the best guy left out there is Collazo. But there are some interesting guys at 154.
Sorry to disappoint some fans... http://boxing.fanhouse.com/2010/01/11/manny-pacquiao-to-fight-joshua-clottey-at-144-catchweight NO CATCHWEIGHT AFTER ALL... This renders this thread moot...
But if it becomes a rule, then there isn't a risk of losing the money because it simply won't be a point of negotiating. I don't think Pac would have avoided moving to welterweight if a rule was in place stating that sanctioned fights can't be at catchweights. If the rule existed, Pac simply wouldn't have made the demand. Likewise, if there were a rule in place that said the only valid substance testing are the ones done by the state athletic commission, Mayweather would have simply never asked for additional tests - it would have been against the rules from the start so would have been moot to even bring up.
No Arum doesnt have any of the top 154 pound fighters except Foreman. PS as far as the catchweight, that isnt the only trick. Lets wait and see what Clottey weighs in the ring. I think they threw that out there to see what the reaction would be.
But as long as you have other options it will never be possible to enforce that/those rules. One body, one set of rules. It will never happen in boxing and is to this day the single biggest problem in boxing.
Theres nothing official about Pac or his team asking Clottey to fight at a catchweight. So as it stands Pac and Fraud have been involved in the same number of catchweight fights(1) the difference is that Pac didnt come two pounds over the weight in his catchweight fight.
"Unlike Cotto, who was contracted to come in at a catch weight of 145 pounds, Clottey will not be required to weigh-in at a catchweight. He will be able to tip the scales at the standard welterweight cieling of 147 pounds. Originally, Koncz had said that there was a catchweight of 144 for Pacquiao-Clottey, but he has since corrected that. A catchweight could have been a huge advantage for Pacquiao. Known to be a big welterweight who has been troubled, at times, with making weight, Clottey has weighed more than 147 pounds for bouts 11 times during his career, twice, at 154. "
I dont care about these all PBF and Pac issues, but if you are clean then you have nothing to hide. I cant uderstand why Pac is resigning from such big money if he is clean.
Not to mention the fact that it's not as if they're going to take enough blood to impact anything. They act as if Floyd is demanding Manny lose a gallon of blood randomly throughout his training camp and don't seem to acknowledge that Floyd will ALSO do the blood testing.
i couldn't agree with you anymore but if he WAS to fight a guy and move him up in weight or maybe at a catchweight it would have to be bradley.
