I completely agree. Arum doesn't care what the fans want or about the well-being of his fighters. This content is protected He's already worth about $200 mil, and he's 80 years old, so why is he still greedy for more? :huh
To play Devil's advocate, Arum has done a lot of good as well. He is the best at bringing up fighters and turning them into superstars. Top Rank currently has the most stars in it's stable and overwhelms any other promotion when it comes to star power. This era alone, he has turned Manny Pacquiao into one of the famous athletes in the world and one of the sports biggest draws. He's turned Miguel Cotto into a huge star as well and a big draw in his own right. Arum also has a slew of up and coming fighters and good names like Bradley, Rios, Chavez Jr, Donaire, Gamboa and Lopez to try and push into future super stardom. Arum has also been the man behind historical Boxing matches like Hagler-Leonard, Leonard-Hearns II, Holyfield-Foreman, Hagler-Duran and Hagler-Hearns, along with numerous others. He is also the only Boxing promoter trying to put on events in grande venues like Cowboy and Yankee Stadium in America.
Sad to say, just about ALL people involved in boxing, whether it's promoters, managers, advisers, Network execs, or the boxers themselves, are self serving and adding to the downfall. Boxing is more business then sport now. Get used to this **** being the norm.
Back in the day Arum was that dude. Now, Arum is a ****ing scumbag. After Leonard Hearns, he became almost a bigot if you ask people who know him or did business with him. He catered towards the Mexican fighter and their fan base because of the toe to toe revenue they brought in, under paying them at times. During that time he was not allowing his fighters to face well deserving African American fighters, and other deserving fighters of other ethnic origins. He's regressed, and his time is up in this sport.
You couldn't wait to post this ****. You have four eyes, and you're a stupid mother****er. ****** ass. You love the way Sergio Martinez looks don't you **** sucker.
- He didn't mind having Margarito licensed despite his bad eye. $$$ was all that mattered. - Or put Remillard in to be beaten up in a mismatch. Then the kid was psychologically messed up and did something stupid. - Or put Pavlik in with the high-risk, low-reward bigger more experienced opponent Hopkins, who was a terrible style match-up for him. And then Arum put Kelly in with the worst possible style match-up at middleweight, namely Sergio Martinez. Kelly has never been mentally the same since the Hopkins fight, and has become a worse alcoholic since the Martinez fight. - I've heard Pacquiao doesn't have a lot of money, despite the huge revenues from his fights. Arum is very rich from exploiting him though.
I know. I'm sure Arum is VERY rich. He isn't going to live too many more years. Why is a stressing over a few million?
