His footwork was truly remarkable. There was a period where he forced Joe Louis to fight his fight, and was even controlling the tempo for a while. Pastor's skills should be talked about more in boxing discussions.

 

Maybe there's some sort of "psychic" connection here, as I had Lem Franklin very much in mind when composing my last post. Pastor certainly remained a viable contender after Louis and Conn, and may even have earned a second title shot had it not been for WW II. Bivins, Lesnevich and Thompson 2X are solid post Conn wins. Somewhat startling to realize he was only in his late 20s when he finished up.

It might be but I think Conn is just too fast for Quarry

 

I can think of very few men who were smaller than Jerry who could have beaten him (Marciano and Langford come to mind). He usually gave away height, reach, and weight, and won anyway. A smaller man? Not likely.

 

Yes he was indeed. I think he would have soundly outpointed Jerry.
