this paragraph leads me to, why the **** do we have national anthems played at boxing events? fallen in the line of duty symbol of our freedom our pride great country symbol blah blah great, fine, nationalistic shite if you ask me and it's fine if that's what you're into but what place does that have at a boxing event? there's a time and a place for all of the above, before two rich, pampered young blokes kick the **** out of each other for an extra few million is not the time.
Good question. The majority of Brits are extremely proud people, proud of our tolerant culture and our great history, which very few countries can match. What pisses us off is the fact that the idiots running the show continuously pander to the European Union, allowing them to impose stupid laws on us, Human Rights, for example - whilst the Americans continue to do as they please - jealousy as much as anything. If we were governed as they are, save the trying to rule the world element, I would bet that Brits would be the happiest people there are, and would stay there, as opposed to catching the first one way flight to New Zealand or Australia in search of a better life!
Probably going off the mark a little, but as a Brit I'm happy with the EU primarily for the freedom of trade introductions which have created a market place without frontiers therefore increasing competition, workers rights and strength in national economies. Getting back to the boxing issue. I wasnt happy with Hatton fans booing the anthem but lets be honest, its not really that big a deal and just seems to be acting as another excuse for people to give Ricky a bit of a bashing.
I suppose it is a difference of opinion there mate- you must be slightly more liberal than me, I think we should look after No.1, but back to boxing....... Booing of national anthems sucks, but hey, it is done now so we should move on.
No, you're (not your) simply talking garbage. Can you tell me when there was an anthem boo-ing incident involving any of the following "Euro" countries: Russia, Ukraine, France, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Finland, Poland, Italy, Romania, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Greece, Bulgaria, Iceland, Hungary, Portugal, Austria, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, Lithuania, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Estonia, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Moldova, Belgium, Albania, Macedonia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Georgia, Andorra, Malta, Liechtenstein or San Marino? If you can't, then saying "the Euros are notorious for it" is clearly horse****. :hi:
Vaguely remember a story about Serbian troops being called up to serve in the Bosnian army and they booed the Bosnian anthem. Now there's a pair of balls!
