Khan is one of the exceptions to the rules i'd imagine. Turned pro off the back of a massive Olympic performance etc, up until now he's been profitable i'd have thought. Interesting thread though lads, thanks to Smigga and Al especially. It is probably appropriate that I announce my retirement from considering a pro career here.

Very good and very true, a lot of good boxers stop trying or pack in, and a lot of the amateur stars aint great fighters anyway as there now different games since headguards and running and flicking got popular, the good solid punching types rarely get to be amateur stars. catch 22.:good

Your forgetting TV revenue, I cannot comment on how much SkySports Pay for a Froch fight but I reckon it's £500k + Because I'm sure Khan's - 3 fight deal is £1 million per a fight with Sky.

£2-2.5k after 3-0 is not bad at all, there was guys saying on these forums you get below £700 in your first few fights. Ofcourse £2.5k a fight is still not enough to make it your full time occupation because you probably will be fighting 4-6 times a year max, but the aim of the game is to progress and there's where the money will be, but in the meantime you can easily hold a part time job of 20-25 hours a week.

mcs, security, doctors, ambulances, timekeepers are all stuff that costs in the hundreds for the night not in the thousands, I think your out of touch with reality you class as £150k as huge amount of money? your comparing it with average working wages but in sports that's not much money and easily realistic on a card that big. if anything I reckon it was more than that. Brook might not be world champion but he is doing bigger numbers than some world champions as far as TV interest and ticket sales.
