The psychology behind what has been experienced, the back and forth with people who trash their fighters opponents after the fight, can be attributed by a blending of psychological terms.

Projection and Actor–observer asymmetry: For example, when a doctor tells someone that their cholesterol levels are elevated, the patient might blame factors that are outside of their control such as genetic or environmental influences.

But what about when they find out their friends cholesterol levels are too high? In such situations, many will attribute it to things such as poor diet and lack of exercise.

In other words, when it's happening to us, it's outside of our control, but when it's happening to someone else, it's all their fault. In boxing fan terms when our fighter, the guy we like, loses, it was either bought judges, or a corrupt ref etc etc. When others lose it was just that they were bums (it was their fault)

I would base my entire practice on this statement: Those people who called Froch or Kessler a bum, after Ward beat them, were afraid that Ward would lose or be beaten badly. When it didn’t happen they projected that fear, that doubt and all the emotions that came with it onto Wards opponents as a way to feel better and convince themselves that doubt and fear wasn’t needed.

Kovalev won the first fight hands down. All his hard earned belts were taken from the champ.kovalev should be the first to defeat Ward, and that win should be part of his legacy.
