Joe wasn't interested in facing Roy at LHW until he saw him get KOd at least twice.

Super Joe did not mind who he faced & he's the one with Zero in his record.

It's the fighters with Zero on their records usually mind who they face.

He held a lightly regarded WBO belt for 10 years.

    Work it out.

Well Super Joe never was put on this thread like Roy was (Glass Jaws Exist in Boxing! )
Say whatever you want about Joe he never lost & by most was regarded as the best by most.
A few from the USA will say Roy,, but why did Roy pull out of a fight with Joe @ 168?
I tell you,, he'd have lost.

This pile of fanboying have nothing to do with the subject at the hand.

Please provide the source of a proposed fight between Roy and Joe at 168. When Roy held a title at 168, Joe was a prospect. In fact, Joe did not start contending at 168 until Roy became a titlist at 175. So I think the thing about Roy pulling out of a fight with Joe at 168, you pulled it out of your ass.

    Sidney,

    Read the thread title again.

Nobody is saying that Joe wasn't a great fighter.

    He was.

    I watched his entire career.

Did he always look unbeatable at the weight though?

    Great, yes. Unbeatable, no.

Did you not see the Reid fight?

How about when he was dropped by Byron Mitchell and a euro level MW in Kabary Salem?

    Roy looked unbeatable at SMW.

He beat James Toney like nobody else ever did, he went a full round against Vinny Pazienza without getting hit, he knocked out Thulani Malinga and Merqui Sosa, and then he breezed past Eric Lucas after playing a game of semi-pro basketball in the afternoon.

Yes, he didn't fight lots of guys there, but at 25-26, he looked awesome. And if anyone doubted his competition, he went up a weight and easily beat Montell Griffin, Virgill Hill and Reggie Johnson, easier than anybody else ever did just shortly afterwards.

Joe having never lost isn't important here.

Rocky Marciano never lost. But while that has to be respected, it doesn't mean that he was a better HW than a guy like Ali. And that's just one example of many.

When you say that Roy pulled out of a fight with Joe at SMW, when are you referring to?

I can only think you must be talking about his embarrassing call outs from 2001 when he'd beat Omar Sheika and Mario Veit.

If you are, we can discuss it.

If not, please clarify the time period you're speaking of.

    Thanks.

I can only think that it was in the from the early 00's when Joe called out Roy after beating Sheika or Veit.

    It was embarrassing.

I'll let him clarify that before discussing it in detail.

Then I'm gonna continue to assume that there's no actual link and you pulled it out of your ass.
