I thought Barry was the next Salvador Sanchez.. Something in his style reminded me of Sanchez or Alexis Arguello...
Ingo actually had a string of impressive wins heading into the 1st Patterson fight (including a 1st-round KO of top-rated Machen), but b/c he was fighting exclusively in Europe, most Americans didn't see them. Isn't that why he fell out w/ his management afterward?
It's definitely Ruiz in tha first match, since then he never looked so impressive despite winnin' most of his last fights
Bowe? He only lost once and avenged that loss. I think Bowe is the most underrated heavyweight in history. The only blemish in his career was not facing Lennox Lewis imo.
Dino Del Cid crunching Oscar Alvarado in one round counts. Don Melancon blasting out Gary Guiden up in Indiana early in his career. Ted Sanders drubbing Alex Ramos into a stupor.
Always felt Calzaghe's 'monster' performance was against Kessler and not the overhyped/overhere Lacy who, analytically, was MADE for a fighter with Joe's attributes. I don't think Calzaghe ever put on a 'deeper' performance than he did against the Great Dane, but its a little harsh in reality to put Joe on any list for fighters who were a monster for one night only. He was a nightmare on any given night, but that night showed he had it all for me.
The Missing Spink was the real deal, too. Most documentaries about him now leave out that fact that he really was a vampire. My Dad said that he once went out for drinks with Johnson and Wilbert had to pay extra to get a live pig.
Tae Shik Kim in his bout against Luis Ibarra. Ibarra was a quality fighter and Kim just completely ripped through him. This version of Kim is a monster for any Flyweight in history H2H imo. This content is protected
