Perhaps striped shorts will have a slimming effect on the boxer? Other then that, the whole field of 'color psychology' is pretty much an archaic notion. Every now and then, a clinician has a bit of free time on his hands and thinks 'Now how can I spend the next couple of hours? I know.. ill invent some ridiculous idea, and sell it to the world!' (see: Freud's Psychodynamic Theory). Anyway, as someone studying Psych, there are some really, really shadey areas of the discipline that give it a bad name. This is one such area. As a fighter myself, i also know that the last thing your thinking when you step into the ring is what your opponent is wearing and any subliminal messages associated with it.
I probably shouldnt have used the term subliminal message.. its my belief that the unconscious mind doesnt control conscious behaviour. But, i was getting at that you could legitimately ask a lot of fighters what color trunks/boots or even their opponents mouthguard was, and alot wont know.
I just want to bring this back to say that anyone who supports this idea is completely out of line and it is completely unacceptable. I believe we all know the difference between right and wrong especially in this particular case. We are all better than that so let's avoid ridiculous threads like these. Thanks...
