Boxing fans appreciate the past more than other sports. Reasons?

Fighters back then had a different mentality it wasnt only about the money it was about being the best, it really was how can you go from fighters like Lewis, Holyfield, Leonard Hearns, Chavez, Trinidad and Delahoya... To guys who simply do not want to fight the best? example Paulie, belt holder, looking to rematch Ricky Hatton who has been out how long? when that fell apart rather than looking for a challenge he woke up old man Mosley.

That type of mentality is not exactly what turns fans on and too many fighters do that **** time and time again, from the klitschkos on down.... fans back then really did see the best fighting the best all the time today you cant say the same and thats why I personally prefer that generation of fighters over this generation

yup baseball, hockey too- the 70's with Orr etc.... and the 90's with Gretzky/Lemieux etc... are definitely held in much higher regard than the current NHL and crop of stars.

 

Because Boxing is full of nostalgia guys who acually thinks Jack johnsson would do just fine against Wladimir Klitschko.

Let me guess they are the greatest heavyweights ever, Klits are lucky to be over a dead era

 

Plus old fights are a hell of a lot more accessible, and not a 3-4 hour sport game that's hard to track down.

I've watched tons of Jordan games, though. Not just from growing up at the time but the NBA Classics aired all the time throughout the years on ESPN Classic & NBA TV.

I just think boxing has a better rewatch value than most of the other sports, like i love watching basketball, football or soccer, but i'd never go back and rewatch a basketball game that i already know the score. But boxing is actually a sport that someone can go back and watch the whole fight even though you know which fighter wins.
