Boxing getting back into mainstream news?

Boxing sure has gotten it's fair share of news in Denmark lately. Mostly because of this old fart being back in training.

Are they promoting the upcoming Braekhus fight at all?

 

Boxing seems to be gaining some steam, now that showtime is getting into the mix it's just going to get better and better. This has been a GREAT couple of years for boxing, and last week just put the icing on the cake. Now all we need is floyd to find his way into a pac fight and the ball will really be rolling.

 

Nah.. they are putting more steam into Rudy Markussen and his comeback. He's trying hard to get a match with Lucian Bute sooner than later. (Wont be surprised if he gets it)

 

Problem is Floyd dont have the balls to roll!

 

Bah...I consider the girlfight the main event and more exciting attraction on that card.

Also, Oral gave a spirited effort against Sylvester. Hopefully he gets some airtime.

 

There was a thirty-second Bradley-Alexander spot on FX during a commercial break for Lights Out.

Granted, they're targeting an audience that is watching a show about boxing...but AFAIK there is no affiliation between HBO and FX, so it's encouraging to see a non-PPV event advertised on another cable channel.

I had been unaware of the Showtime-CBS Corp. thing for a while. I'm not always up on stuff like that.

Pacquiao is going to be fighting on Showtime (owned by CBS) - not CBS itself.

That doesn't fit my meaning. Boxing used to be on actual network television in its heyday. CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX...the channels with the highest viewership - that's the venue boxing needs to re-emerge in. Paid premium cable channels like Showtime and HBO, with their smaller and more exclusive subscribership are the same-old same-old.

So what Arum did is irrelevant to this discussion, unless Pacquiao fights on the flagship CBS station during primetime.

 

But at least CBS viewers will get to see four Pac-Mosley documentaries in prime time schedule and other pac-mosley features (60 minutes, morning shows, and ads on NCAA etc). That's a good start to get back on the networks. Once they see that boxing could get ratings and sponsorhip deals then maybe next time they would explore showing the fight itself on the network. and if i'm not mistaken, i think CBS would show the fight on replay.

 

Ok, bump bump. Not much of a shock, but Arreola's stoppage win over Abell made the top plays at number 6. Again, not much of a shock considering the fight was on ESPN, but still you never know with those guys. So I'm pumped up about that.

Lopez's stoppage on the very same show was better...but of course that wasn't going to be the one they show. :yep

 

Yea, it was considering the opponent as well, but yea 2 boxing highlights in one night? ESPN does not do that. :nono No sir. :bart
