A second vote for Terry Dooley, who I understand is banned from posting here. I've also got a lot of time for another Boxrec stalwart Ian McNeilly.
Best to avoid the ****-waving "I've been to more shows than you" crap. The best boxing writers can usually be spotted by their willingness to go to insane lengths to speak with fighters. Just a final point though - Shaun, you said about it being hard out of London. Well, there are few creative industries that's not true of. The majority of my work is down in London and I just have to suffer it. I made a choice about girlfriends, marriage, kids, etc so I could be the boho little ***** I am. Writing is a sacrifice 9/10.
calm down mate. I was taking the ****, no need to search for any minor mistakes or letters I've dropped when typed on my iphone. this is a forum, im not bothered about my grammar here most of the time. atsch
I don't know mate. I just remember reading a post where he had to communicate through another member.
Aye, no bother... if you didn't know by now I'm Shaun Brown, I write and i wear my heart on my sleeve a bit too much. Thank god I need to proof my work before i submit otherwise I'd be ****ed
Thanks for the mention Shaun :goodI try and cover as many shows as I can around Manchester and Liverpool but like many industries there are prejudices. I've heard Buncey comment about Online writers before and I except there are some very poor ones but that shouldn't take away from the very good such as Shaun, Andy Wake, John Evans and Terry Dooley. The coverage of all shows, weigh ins and media days would be a dream come true for me as I consider myself to be a Boxing diehard first and foremost, but I also have a full time day job which prevents this. I think this is sometimes over looked by the likes of Buncey
It was a bit of praise for the few internet boxing journalists that do actually attend shows and file reports...they are, as I said, often the only ones at ringside. Adios.
:good I think 'internet writers' can be broken into two categories. 1) Those which attend shows, go to gyms to meet fighters, and help push the small hall and domestic title scene. 2) Those that merely blog their unfounded opinions, do not speak to people behind the scenes in game and never attend shows. It's the second lot that give it a bad name.
