I already considered your point of view, after all I did mention the weight in my comment. Ofcourse if you force Stevenson who is naturally around 175 lbs to put on weight to make the heavy weight limit of 200 lbs then his punches would be slower and have less pop. I am talking Adonis at 175 lbs could have more power than the Haye who fought Bellew. Haye at Cruiser was a more explosive puncher than the one we have now. Now he weights around 220 and is not as mobile and explosive as the one that rocked valuev. Let me tell you now that the reason guys like Beterbiev, Stevenson, Gassieve and Kudrayshov will not compete or win any titles at heavy weight is not because of power. Its because of their disadvantage in reach, height, raw strength in the clinch (Look at Steve Cuningham knocking down Fury and then been manhandled). Also the fact that by making weight they would lose their speed and even some power because of newtons second law. When Wilder turned pro, he was barely 210 lbs and yet was easily one of the most powerful punchers at heavyweight while knocking out 400 lb road sweepers. There is a correlation between weight class and punching power but it is not an exact science since there are other factors. Cotto at middleweight was knocking out all his opponents, I would say he had more power than even Canelo. The only reason this didn't seem like the case in their fight is that Canelo's extra size allowed him to absorb more punches.
Styles do make fights, but I never use the reason you gave to explain that. Take AJ / Fury/ Wlad. I see a lot of things like "AJ KOd Wlad, he definitely beats fury!!" Etc But styles make fights.. So the problems Wlad give AJ aren't the same as the problems Fury can give.
lmao that's ridiculous. As a counter puncher who is stationary before throwing, it takes Rigondeux less punches to get an opponent out of there. Where as Garcia's come forward fighters despite their forward momentum most of the time need multiple combo's upstairs and downstairs to stop an opponent
power comes from ,mass and speed. But in boxing numerous other factors come into play along with these two factors mass can be broken down into hands(if you have fist like stones they will do more damage), weight and biomechanics. No point in having tons of mass and rock hard fists if your biomechanics are all over the place and you can't control the power you generate. It doesn't come from the legs, its comes from the ankles, knees, hips, core, shoulders elbows and wrists all working together to produce a movement in perfect unisin . I believe that the lower limbs play more of a role in power generation, depending on the punch, a hook will be more hips, a uppercut more knees. But the fixation of the forearm, wrist elbow and shoulder play the role in not losing that power as its transfered through the body. speed is great too but it relies entirely on bio mechanics ,the same as power many factors determine a fighters punching power, the main one being correct technique or in other words correct biomechanics for power generation
how u know so certainly he contracted it, bro? very intimate knowledge u got there somehow. and what noises did he make dat night
Another irritating myth was that Walters was a welter fighting at feather, stated in defense of Donaire getting his arse whooped. Walters is 5'7 and shorter than Lomachenko. Walters in ring weight of 138 according to HBO was what Lomachenko weighed in the ring against Russell Jr. Numerous feather weights are taller than Walters, and numerous feather weights have weighed more than 138 in the ring on fight night. Are they all welters as well? Smh
Greatest example ever of this is Sumbu Kalambay getting iced by Michael Nunn (who wasn't a big puncher), that never happened before or after again with Kalambay. The worst misconception right now is Golovkin's power and that he hits harder than HWs. Just no, I guarantee everyone in the LHW top 5 (except Ward) all hit harder than Golovkin.
I know right. Rigs drops bigger men with single shots. He breaks facial bones with single shots as well. Most other boxers need an accumulation to get someone down.
